About Us

Who we are?

Lower Chilland Fishery

Lower Chilland Fishery, was newly established in 2019. We have a wealth of experience in all aspects of sensitive river management, particularly in understanding what are the best practices for sustaining wild fish stocks, as well as embracing the concept of ‘light touch’ habitat management in order to better implement a wholesome river environment that improves year on year.

The fishery resides close to Winchester in 5 acres of landscaped gardens, which provide a magical backdrop, enhanced by the River Itchen flowing along the southern boundary, and the Mill Leet running through the grounds, widely considered by many to be the world’s premier chalk stream for fly fishing.

The fishery currently enjoys 425 yards of double bank fishing where the river runs along its southern boundary. In addition, the Mill Leet provides a further 350 yards of double bank fishing as it flows through the grounds.

The gardens have been beautifully designed with many delightful seating areas, bridges and clever planting to make the most of the riverside location.
